Tic-Tac-Toe Birthday for Paper Players #165

Hello and Happy Sunday to you! This week at the Paper Players, our very own Ann is our hostess with a fab "Tic-Tac-Toe" challenge to get crafty with. Pick a line on the board, vertically, horizontally or diagonally. I went with the first row: Ribbon-Patterned Paper- Birthday. I also added some embossing and pearls, so I hit 5 of the 9 squares.
I am kind of obsessed with the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper, so that was where I started. I love those patterns! The music note paper paired with the sentiment have me humming "Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to yooouuu!" I embossed the sentiment from the You're Amazing stamp set for some added shine and topped it off with some pearls. There is really nothing super-special about this card, but I like how it came out. I hope you do, too. :) All of the supplies I used are listed at the end of the post.
Please join us over at the Paper Players The challenge is open through Friday, October 4th, 2013 at Noon (PDT). Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week.

Mixed Bunch for Paper Players #164

Hello there! Hope you are having a great day so far. The weather has finally cooled off here and it is starting to feel like Fall. Hooray! This week at the Paper Players, the lovely and talented Sandy has a fun sketch challenge for us. I accidentally set my post to go live at 7:00PM Sunday night, instead of 7:00AM Sunday morning. Yikes! I guess I was pretty tired when I was typing this up. Anyhoo, Sandy's sketch is pretty awesome, so I hope you will join us this week and play along.
I took a pretty literal interpretation of the sketch using the big, bold blossom from the Mixed Bunch stamp set and the patterns in the Gingham Garden DSP. I love the colors together, too. They are really cheery, don't you think? I popped up all of the layers on the card and added a couple pops of bling to finish it off. All of the supplies I used are listed at the end of the post.
Please join us over at the Paper Players The challenge is open through Friday, September 27th, 2013 at Noon (PDT). Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week.

Before I go, I wanted to share a photo of the cutest puppy ever! She is our newest foster dog (our beautiful Violet left for her new home a couple weeks ago). This little bundle of Schnauzer cuteness is Sabrina. She is 3 months old and will be headed to her new home in Minnesota in the second week in October. She is absolutely adorable! Have a great day today! :)

CAS for the Kiddos Challenge - Paper Players #163

Hello there! Hope you are enjoying your day so far. It has been a busy week over here. This week at the Paper Players, I am the challenge hostess and I went with a CAS (Clean and Simple) theme: "For the Kids". I sure hope you will join us and share your fun creations.

I used the kitty image from the Here Kitty, Kitty stamp set, which is retired. I shaded the little kitty and then cut out and popped up her little party hat. Trying my best to keep it clean, I went with some ribbon banners and added a simple banner sentiment as well. Banners are perfect for birthday cards, right? Originally I had scored a single line under the kitty so she was "grounded" on the card, but it didn't seem to be enough. So, I added a row of bling, because let's be honest, who wouldn't want to walk along a road covered in sparkly rhinestones! Just me? Didn't think so. :)
Finally, here is a shot of my little Abby, who was my inspiration for the little gray kitty on the card. I'm not an expert at shading images, but at least I got the feet a little lighter. Haha! Miss Abby just celebrated one year with us. Hard to believe this is the same itty bitty kitten we rescued that day.

Simple Butterflies for Paper Players #162

Hello there! This week over at the Paper Players, the ever fabulous LeAnne has come up a fabulous color combo to try. Isn't this mix of Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry and Basic Black just gorgeous?

To be honest, my card was actually 2 different cards before I just decided I was over-complicating the process trying to add too many bells and whistles to my card. I also smudged some black ink right across a water colored image on my second card as it was 95% complete, which made me want to throw in the towel. Ugh! I finally just decided to keep it clean and simple and let the colors take center stage. I guess I was inspired by the trio of butterflies in the challenge graphic, too. I added the little pop of pattern and chevron embossing along with raising up the butterflies and the oval with Stampin' Dimensionals. The sparkle adds a fun finishing touch. I have listed all of the supplies at the end of the post.

Lovely as a Tree for Paper Players #161

Hello there! I'm here (a wee bit late) with my card for the Paper Players challenge this week. The always awesome Sandy Mathis is our hostess this week with a Fall Theme Challenge. As it is currently, 100 degrees here in South Texas, I am very much in the mood for fall to arrive...SOON! It's just too hot!

For my card, I pulled out the Lovely as a Tree stamp set. This is one of those stamp sets that it took me forever to finally break down and purchase but I'm SO glad I did. I decided to ink up the trees with my Stampin' Write Markers to make them look "fall-ish". Here is the funny part, I stamped the image ONCE and really liked how it came out. Yup, one try. That is virtually unheard of for me. I usually have to stamp 3 or 4 times before I am happy with the results. I know I'm not the only one out there who does that! Haha!
I used the Sweater Weather DSP again which I know has Tangerine Tango in it...and I used a Cajun Craze marker and the Candy Dots Accents. *Gasp!* I just liked the way it looked, even if technically they aren't the same color. I sponged around the edges to rough it up a bit and added some texture from two different ribbons. All of the supplies I used are listed below.
Please join us over at the Paper Players The challenge is open through Friday, September 6th, 2013 at Noon (PDT). Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week.
